Ropes - Sport climbing

All sport climbing ropes have physical (ITT ) as well as chemical (EDP) sheath protection.

All GILMONTE ropes have a heat-treated sheath (ITT – Infra Thermo Treatment, known by other brands as "Protect", "Thermo Shield", "Endurance"...), which stabilizes the ropes, ensures better handling and connects the core with the rope sheath. At the same time, this treatment increases the durability of the sheath and makes it more difficult for dirt and water to enter the inside of the rope, which contributes to a longer life-span of the rope.

EDP ​​- Eco Deep Protect protection (known by other brands as "Dry" or "Dry cover") means that only the sheath of the rope is chemically impregnated to repel water (water absorption is between 20 and 25% of the weight of the rope; for untreated rope is > 50%) ). The impregnation also contributes to greater durability of the sheath and additionally protects the rope from the dirt entering it, which prevents additional wear of the rope. Due to the impregnation, the ropes are smoother and cause less friction while sliding on the wall and passing through quickdraws allowing more comfortable climbing with less rope-drag. The chemical impregnation agent is free of PFC chemicals, which are harmful to the environment.
